An analysis of the tax cuts enacted over the past six years shows that the wealthiest 1% of Rhode Islanders will receive 31.1 percent of the tax cuts while the poorest 60 percent will get only 17.6 percent of the tax cuts.  Click here to read the three page report.

Estate Tax Repeal Would Add Trillions to Deficit, Curb Charitable Contributions, and Benefit only a handful of Rhode Island Estates (6.06)
The U.S. Senate will consider legislation this week to permanently repeal or effectively gut the federal estate tax, a move that would cost billions in lost revenue and benefit only a handful of the very largest estates.   Only one percent of estates owe any estate tax at all.  In Rhode Island, 101 estates were subject to federal taxes in 2004.
